First consciousness experience (of which I was especially aware) was at the age of 21. This I identified as such after reading 'Zen Flesh, Zen Bones' around 2 weeks later. I then gave away what little possessions I had at the time (I was a student) and went to London with a vague idea that I might become a Buddhist monk. After 2 weeks of sleeping rough, and in returning home I made the very deliberate decision to lead as normal a life as possible (as I saw it at the time) and to recontact my girlfriend and 'get a job'. The spiritual thing would be re-addressed in later years after 'benefiting from' a normal life pattern. This I have taken up in my late fifties after reading Heal Your Spirit Heal Yourself, The Spiritual Medicine of Tibet, by Dr Pema Dorjee, Janet Jones and Terence Moore plus, Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now, and after experiencing some very traumatic life experiences…………………….to be continued…
